Many people are used to their usual holiday destinations like Europe or South America to enjoy the beaches. But have you ever wanted to try out something a bit more adventurous that allowed you to experience things you had never done before? If so, maybe you should aim for Tanzania for your next family trip. Like a lot of people, you might not know a lot about Tanzania so let us show you what you’ve been missing out on and what things you could experience during a vacation stay in Tanzania. You might be surprised to see how many things there are out there that you had no idea existed. You might be surprised to learn that some of the most prize locations in all of Africa find themselves in Tanzania.
The Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti National Park is probably one of the most well-known safari destinations in the whole world. It is not only one of the biggest African reserves when it’s over 30,000 kilometers of protected area but it also houses a vast biodiversity. Within its extensive Savannah, you will be able to see some of what local guides call the big five. The Big 5 consists of five of the most well-known African animals including the lion, the elephant, the African Buffalo, the leopard, and of course the rhinoceros. The Serengeti also offers you one of the most incredible and rare opportunities to see the great migration in Tanzania safari expeditions. The great migration is of course the gathering migration of the wildebeest which happens only once a year and only goes through a very small path which is included in the Serengeti.
Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
This is another one of these extremely unique areas that you can visit in Tanzania. The Ngorongoro creator is an empty volcanic caldera which is huge in proportion. This UNESCO site spans over 8000 kilometers and houses some of the largest animal populations in the world. To this day it is still considered one of the areas in Africa that has the densest population of animals in general but also some of the big fives as well including rhinoceroses who are still currently on the extinction list. Since the area is mostly planes seeing animals is extremely easy and most of the area is also very accessible for tourism and safari enjoyers. So, if you go to Tanzania this should be one of your primary destinations.
Mount Kilimanjaro
This is by far one of the most popular destinations in all of Africa. This of course is not a typical holiday destination for those who love to enjoy leisure but instead, this is a true adventurer’s destination. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is considered one of the hardest mountains in the world mostly because of its height but still every year almost 50% of the people who attempt to climb have to abandon their climb because of mountain sickness. This is of course not a destination for the faint of art since climbing Mount Kilimanjaro can take over a week and will require you to get acclimated to the lack of oxygen in the highest parts of the mountain. Still, the experience of climbing almost up to the top of the world is something that remains unbeaten for those who seek thrill and excitement. If you are a veteran climber this is a destination for you and something that you should at least do once in your life.
Ruaha Park
This is one of the lesser-known Tanzanian parks mostly because it is hard to access and finds itself at the heart of the country. Still, if you manage to make your way to this park you will find an incredible landscape filled with baobab trees and an incredible rocky hill. Not only that but this park is the home of over 10% of the African lion population. If you visit this park, you will also get the opportunity to see one of the four natural habitats of the cheetah and a large variety of other freaking predators that have struck the world’s imagination for decades if not centuries. If you’re open to seeing some of the African gentle giants you will also get the opportunity to see large herds of elephants as well as the pretty dense population of buffaloes that roam depart every day. So even if the northern safari parkour is much more appreciated by the general public you should give this southern path a try since it houses some of the most well-hidden gems of all of Africa.
